The High Representative issues a statement acknowledging that certain non-EU countries are going to align their sanctions regimes with the EU's – in this case, it's the 2 Ukraine-related CFSP (Common Foreign and Security Policy) decisions – 2014/145/CFSP and 2014/151/CFSP. Here's the text of one of them:
Declaration by the High Representative on behalf of the
European Union on the alignment of certain third countries
with the Council Decision 2014/145/CFSPconcerning restrictive
measures in respect of actions undermining or threatening the
territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine
On 17 March 2014, the Council adopted Council Decision 2014/145/CFSP1.
The Council Decision imposes a travel ban and asset freeze against persons responsible for
actions which undermine or threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence
of Ukraine.
The Candidate Country Montenegro*, Iceland+, the Country of the Stabilisation and
Association Process and potential candidate Albania, and the EFTA country Norway,
member of the European Economic Area, as well as Ukraine.
They will ensure that their national policies conform to this Council Decision.
The European Union takes note of this commitment and welcomes it.
