Good afternoon,

On behalf of the Sanctions Section at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), we would like to wish you a safe holiday period and a Happy New Year.

Over the past year, we have listened to your feedback and undertaken a review of how we operate as a regulator.

We are pleased to announce that on 1 January 2020, DFAT will establish the Australian Sanctions Office (ASO). As part of this establishment, we will be rolling out changes to improve the way we provide you with information, address your enquiries and process your permit applications.

In early 2020, we will launch new website content and a new online portal system – Pax – improving the process for making enquiries regarding Australia’s sanctions regimes and applying for sanctions permits. User guides will be available to ease the transition and all existing applications will remain in the Online Sanctions Administration System until finalised.

More information and updates will be available on our website as changes are made.

Kind regards,

Sanctions Section
