On Thursday, Canadian regulators made the following changes, listed in the Canada Gazette, to its anti-terrorism listings:
Section 1 of the Regulations Establishing a List of Entities is amended by
- Replacing the name of the existing entity, “Al Qaida in Iraq (AQI)”, with “Islamic State (IS)”, and adding the following new aliases to the existing list of entities: “Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, ISIL, Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham, ISIS, Al-Dawla Al-Islamiya fi al-Iraq wa al-Sham.”
- Adding “Al Qaida in Iraq” as an alias of Islamic State.
- Removing “The Organization Base of Jihad/Country of the Two Rivers” from the list of existing aliases of Al Qaida in Iraq in the French version of the Regulations.
